Working remotely became a huge trend during and after the pandemic. However, several corporations have been demanding their employees return to the office full time or at least half the time.
Starbucks is the latest company telling its corporate employees that they need to come into the office three days a week or they can part ways with the company. The demand comes from Starbucks’ new CEO. The hybrid work policy goes into effect in January, reports Entrepreneur. He made it clear that he himself does it commuting from California to Seattle. But don’t feel too bad, he’s coming into work every week on his private plane. And I’m sure he’s got a fancy condo in Seattle he stays in.
It’s not all so stiff. He told his employees that they can choose what three days to come into the office.
Since taking over as CEO, Brian Niccol, said he plans on making lots of changes such as simplifying the menu and changing the stores such as adding more comfortable seating and a coffee condiment bar. He also plans on reducing wait time for customers to 4 minutes or less.
The 3-day hybrid work week is much more lax compared to other companies. For example, beginning in January, corporate workers for Amazon must be in-person 5-days a week.
