Ariana Grande took the stage as the host of “Saturday Night Live” this week, and as expected, she brought her A-game. This time, however, she teased the audience by claiming she wouldn’t sing, and keep it “low key.” Spoiler alert: that lasted all of about three seconds before she dove into a spectacular musical monologue, showcasing her impressive ability to mimic some of the biggest pop stars around.

While the night featured performances from Stevie Nicks, Ariana still made her mark by singing in nearly half the sketches. So much for not performing—girl was clearly having too much fun to hold back! There was a moment where she claimed she wouldn’t be singing like Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, or Gwen Stefani, but you know what they say: the only thing better than a good joke is a good impersonation. When she hit all the right notes in character, it definitely left everyone wanting more.

And let’s not forget the hilarious moment when she joked about not talking about her upcoming movie role in “Wicked,” only to be interrupted by Bowen Yang dressed in Glinda pink, saying the sketch was cut. The irony was not lost on anyone.
