Maya described how Payne often reached out in distressing ways, claiming he would say things like, “I’m going to die.” She even went as far as to say that his actions felt manipulative, making it hard to decipher where genuine concern began and emotional games ended. She even said that he reached out to his family about not doing well. During the interview she said,
I don’t play with death. If you say this, I’m going to try and help you no matter what you’ve done. I think he took advantage of my family’s kindness.
As if the drama couldn’t escalate further, Henry alleged that in the days leading up to his death, Payne’s behavior was erratic. She even sent him a cease-and-desist letter earlier in the month.
