Capri Sun were the ultimate treat during our childhood. It’s like they were instantly gone the moment you poked the straw through the silver pouch. Well, a British college student answered a questioned no one actually asked about Capri Sun’s, what’s the fastest time anyone has ever finished the fruit drink?
Declan Evans from Lincoln, England officially set the Guinness World Record for the fasted time to complete a Capri Sun. In April to deal with lockdown boredom—so he started perusing records that the organization had set a benchmark for, but that hadn’t actually been attempted. That’s when a beloved kids’ drink caught his eye: fastest time to drink a Capri Sun.
To set the record, all Evans had to do was take “any commercially available, unmodified 200 ml Capri Sun pouch,” as Guinness World Records explained, and document himself consuming it “using the straw”—which must begin the challenge “still inside the plastic film and still glued to the side”—in around 18 seconds. After a few tries, on August 27, Evans pulled of his record-setting attempt: 16.65 seconds.
“It is a stupid record to hold, but that is the fun of the Guinness World Records,” Evans, who received his official Guinness World Record certificate in October, told The Lincolnite. “I think it will definitely get beaten. I wouldn’t say it was that fast. It is a silly record anyone can try, but I am proud to have it and it is still a world record. Once I achieved it, it was quite rewarding, and I want to try more records in the future.”
